Chief: "I want him hospitalized immediately."
Nurse Hoskins: "I'm sorry, but we don't have a single bed open."
Larabee: "How about a double?"

Get Smart Episode #120, Season Five #8.

Note: This is the second episode of a two-part story. However, as Season 5 is the only one with onscreen episode titles, that title is used here, eschewing the practice of numbered parts adopted for previous seasons.

Trivia[]

  • 99 gives birth to twins in this episode, the only one in which both babies are actually seen. Like her mother and grandmother, the girl is never named but twenty-five years later the 1995 revival series reveals that the boy's name is Zach.
  • At the maternity hospital there was a page for Dr Nelson. Perhaps named after Gary Nelson, the director who directed the most number of Get Smart episodes. It is curious to note that this is a fifth season episode and unlike the previous four seasons, Nelson did not direct on the fifth season at all and would not direct again in the world of Get Smart until the reunion TV movie Get Smart, Again!
  • Apart from Simon making 99's Mother drop her dimes for the third time, 99's Mother was able to hit him because she says he was the image of her late husband! It is curious that 99 never saw Simon as no doubt she would have noticed Simon's resemblance to her late father.

Reality Check[]

  • The title refers to the song "My Blue Heaven" dating from 1924 which includes the lyric "Just Molly and Me/And baby makes Three". A film titled And Baby Makes Three was released in 1949. It is perhaps an unfortunate choice in that it gives away the "surprise" - the fact that the Smart baby is in fact twins.
