Don Adams portrayed Maxwell Smart

Don Adams was the actor who played Maxwell Smart in the original Get Smart TV-Series, The Nude Bomb, Get Smart, Again! and the Get Smart 1995 revival series. He was born on April 13, 1923 in New York City, New York, USA. He died on September 25, 2005 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

In addition to Get Smart, Don Adams appeared on The Bill Dana Show, The PartnersThe Don Adams Screen Test and Check It Out, and in animation was the voice of Tennesee Tuxedo and Inspector Gadget (and of the dog in the "Inspector Gadget" movie); in both those series (the former predating Get Smart by several years), Adams used a vocal style similar to that of Smart.

In later years, Adams reprised Max not only for revival films and series, but also for a number of television ad campaigns including: McDonald's, Chief Auto Parts, Schlitz beer, Pepsodent toothpaste, Bearcat scanner radios, Buck-a-Call (a Canadian long-distance service), and Saskatchewan Tourism. Some of the advertisements ranged from Adams simply delivering the pitch in character to full-out mini-stories (such as the Saskatchewan promotional campaign which co-starred Austin Willis as Chief).

Other Get Smart Characters[]

During the series Max encounters a number of lookalikes which of course are also portrayed by Adams.
